A transcript is a record of a student’s academic performance at an educational institution. It typically includes a list of courses taken, grades earned, and credits awarded. Transcripts are often used for a variety of purposes, such as:

There are several types of transcripts, but for the purposes of this article, we will focus on the following two common ones:
- Official transcripts: These are transcripts that are issued by the registrar’s office of an educational institution and are considered to be official documents. These transcripts are also sent directly from the registrar’s office of an educational institution to the recipient (University, Scholarship Board, or Employers) and are considered to be official documents.
- Unofficial transcripts: These are transcripts that are printed by students or institutions from an online system and are not considered to be official documents.
Eligibility
Before initiating the application process, ensure you meet the eligibility criteria to request a transcript from UCC. To be eligible, you must:
- Have been a student at University of Cape Coast (UCC).
- Have completed all academic requirements for the degree or program you were enrolled in.
- Have no outstanding financial obligations to the university.
Information on the transcript includes:
- Name as it appears in the University Student records
- College, School, and departmental affiliation
- Degree/certificate program (if applicable)
- C.G.P.A. of all courses taken
Things to consider before applying for your transcript:
- You can apply for a transcript when a school or a workplace demands for it.
- A transcript will only be sent to a school address or a corporate entity’s address
- Provide a valid Telephone number
- The programme pursued
- Provide your index number
- Provide your name as it appears on your certificate
- Pay through a valid credit card or mobile money
How to obtain an official transcript
To obtain an official transcript, you can submit a request and expect it to be ready within 48 hours. Additionally, there’s an Express Transcripts option available for those in a hurry. To utilize this service, make sure to submit your request before 12 noon on working days and follow the steps outlined below. Your Express Transcripts will be ready just four hours later.
- Pay for the transcript at the Cash Office.
- Present the payment receipt for the transcript to Academic Affairs office.
- Collect your transcript from Academic Affairs office after 48 hours.
Current Transcript Charges (subject to change):
- Standard: GH₵10.00
- Express: GH₵30.00
Additional Information:
- Students noticing incomplete or inaccurate online transcripts should report to the Academic Affairs Office.
- In the event of errors discovered after transcript printing, re-printing will be at the students’ cost.
- If a transcript request is placed on a Friday under the 48-hour regime, it will be ready on the following Tuesday at the same time as the order was placed.
