UCC BComm Accounting is an undergraduate academic program that focuses on providing students with a comprehensive understanding of financial management and accounting principles. This degree equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue a career in accounting and related fields. The curriculum typically covers areas such as financial accounting, managerial accounting, taxation, auditing, and business law. Students also gain proficiency in financial analysis, reporting, and the use of accounting software. A BComm in Accounting prepares individuals for roles such as accountants, auditors, financial analysts, or tax professionals.
UCC BComm Accounting Cut-Off Points and Requirements
To gain admission to UCC BComm Accounting, each type of applicant needs to check what the requirements are since there are different requirements for each applicant type:
SSCE and WASSCE Applicants

For Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) applicants, a maximum aggregate of 24 is required, with passes (A-D) in six subjects, including Core English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies, and three elective subjects, one of which must be Financial Accounting. West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination candidates should aim for a maximum aggregate of 36 with passes (A1-C6) in similar subjects. General Business Certificate Exam candidates eligible for level 100 admission should secure credit passes (A-D) in six subjects, including Core English, Mathematics, and three relevant elective subjects.
GCE and HND Applicants
For General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level candidates, a minimum of three subjects with at least one pass at Grade D or better is required, along with credit passes (Grade 6) in five GCE Ordinary Level subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, and a Science subject for non-science students. Higher National Diploma (HND) applicants must hold a good HND certificate (at least 2nd Class Lower Division) and possess a 2-year post-HND qualification working experience. Admission to Level 300 is available for those with an HND in business-related programs, while other HND holders with at least Second Class may be admitted to Level 200. Other diploma qualifications equivalent to HND may also be considered following a thorough assessment.
ABCE and Mature Applicants
Candidates possessing a full Diploma Certificate in ABCE should have obtained credit passes in five subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, or Social Studies in the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE), SSSCE, or WASSCE. Consideration for admission at the 200 level of a degree program is granted to these ABCE candidates. For mature candidates, aged at least 25, proof of age through a birth certificate or legitimate documentation is required. To secure admission, successful performance in the Mature Students’ Entrance Examinations conducted by the University of Cape Coast in English Language, Mathematics, and an Aptitude Test is necessary. Furthermore, individuals holding Part I qualifications from recognized Professional Accountancy Bodies, such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Ghana), are eligible for admission.
